Brainerd Minnesota Lakes area is a regional shopping, industrial, and tourism center. There are many nearby resorts that take advantage of the many nearby lakes including Gull Lake. The Mississippi River flows right through Brainerd with five road/highway bridges and one railroad bridge crossing it. There is also the Paul Bunyan Trail, a bowling alley in Brainerd, Movie theater in Baxter, Amusement Parks in area. Brainerd is also home to one of the Central Lakes College campuses. On Friday June 22 2018 there was a fire at North Star Apartments.
Alarms sounded on most floors.
Smoke could be seen coming out the window.
many residents evacuated.
Was told by other residents that it was started by an unattended candle next to boxes.
Brainerd Fire Department, Brainerd Police, Crow Wing County Sheriff department, and North ambulance responded. E river rd was temporarily closed.
Fire was contained to the apartment however smoke and water went to other apartments.
There is substantial water damage from sprinkler.

Banners for the Brainerd riverfront sponsored by business (not associated with the production of this video) were installed by Brainerd Public Utilities workers in boom lift truck on Laurel St Bridge. Two double blade military Chinook helicopters flew over Brainerd Minnesota. May 23 2018
